A stunning green Chinese turquoise with a dramatic webbing of black matrix has been carved with a Chinese symbol or motif. The gorgeous oval turquoise is framed in a filigree setting of silver over copper. The warmth of the copper glows through the silver, the color is a wonderful compliment to the green stone. The filigree wire work is highly detailed, with a ring of lacy flowers girding the gem. The filigree is beautiful on the back of the brooch as it is on the front. The pin is a secure safety clasp. Circa 1920.

Chinese jewels from the early 20th Century are wonderfully made and highly collectible. During the 1920s Chinese design was all the rage in the West. Women adorned themselves in jewelry from China and carved gemstones in traditional designs were very popular.
